“Traces Of The Future” will be shown in Venice as part of the European Heritage Days festival. The festival will be held in a beautiful monastery near the Church of Sant’ Elena. The festival will take place on 28 and 29 September.
Traces of the Future (Tracce del Futuro) will be screened on 29 September. In Traces of the Future, photographer Herman van Doorn documents through his photographs how Venice is changing. Crafts and traditional workshops are disappearing and are being replaced by industrial products and international retail chains. They may be able to produce products at a cheaper price but what is the long-term cost? The end of century-old trades and knowledge passed down from generation to generation.
The documentary is the brain child of both Barry and Suzanne van Leendert and features footage shot in Venice and Herman’s hometown of Utrecht.
