Barry’s latest release, the single My Hometown Virginia, is out now. You can listen/buy it at all major online distributors, such as Spotify, YouTube, Apple, Amazon, etc.
As the title suggests, it’s a very personal song about Barry growing up in the town of Virginia in Ireland. As he explains himself – “after all the many miles I’ve travelled, and the various countries I’ve lived in at different times, there’s still one place I call home… and that’s Virginia.”
The song was recorded, mixed and mastered at Squank Recording Studio under the steady hand of Ralph Schraven. He also played some acoustic guitar on the track, as well as a harmonium and some extra harmony vocals. This is the third time Barry and Ralph have worked together. Their first collaboration was the Troubadour CD/DVD. After that they teamed up to compose the soundtrack for the documentary “Zielen van Utrecht” [Souls of Utrecht].
The harmonica solo is by Ruurd van der Vegt. Graphic design is by Monica Knaapen & Ralph Schraven and the cover photo is from Ian Mc Cabe’s collection.
